Community Partnerships

Strong communities are built through collaboration, persistence and a shared commitment to students. Throughout my time as Trustee, I have worked closely with parents, school staff, fellow trustees, senior administration, municipal leaders and provincial representatives to address the needs of our growing community.

One of the accomplishments I am most proud of was advocating for a long-term solution to overcrowding in Bowmanville. While continuing to press for a new Catholic elementary school in North Bowmanville, I supported an interim solution that relocated the Grade 7 and 8 students from St. Elizabeth Catholic Elementary School to the annex building on the St. Stephen Catholic Secondary School campus. This provided much-needed classroom space for younger students while we continued to advocate for a permanent solution.

That advocacy helped lead to the approval and construction of St. Cecilia Catholic Elementary School, a significant investment in our community that will serve Clarington families for generations. It was an honour to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony and to see this long-awaited project become a reality.

As Clarington continues to grow, I will continue working with our community and all levels of government to advocate for the schools, classrooms and capital investments our students deserve.
